Starting off with the Five brothers written by Elizabeth Seeger we begin with the sons of pandu. There were five sons all with their mother were headed on their way to the entrance to a kingdom. The boys were fascinated for they had been raised in the forest and had never seen such beautiful architecture in their life until this day. The men t the gates noticed these people and to them they all looked as beautiful as god’s. The sages came out to take care of them and bring them into the wonderful city. The sages spoke and told another person to run and go get the king, King Kuru. When told the news, the King rose and went to the city gate to see the mother and her five sons. With the king he was followed by all of the important and royal individuals within the city. They then were told of the story of Pandu, the former king and how he left to pursue the rest of his life in the forest because of a curse placed upon him. Week 15 Reading Notes, 20 Jakata Tales B

Starting off with the second half of the reading we are introduced with the story of the two pigs. An older lady walking across a village road comes upon two little pigs and tells them to get in to her basket since their mother is not around. SO she put them in her basket along with the cotton she had just bought from the fields. Years passed and these pigs were still living with the woman and were being raised like her own kids. One day though a feast was help once all of the food was gone some men went to the woman wanting to buy the pigs from her so that they could have more food to consume. She would not sell them and then the men made her get drunk, but she still refused to sell the pigs. The pigs did something miraculous that allowed them to be able to live in the palace with the king. Now is the story of the patient buffalo.   Starting off with this reading we begin with the story of the monkey bridge. There was one giant monkey who was the ruler over eighty thousand other normal monkeys. The placed that they lived in the mountains was a complete paradise. There was one tree that bore the most delicious fruit that could be imagined, they would all eat the fruit from the tree and lay underneath the shade that it also produced. The only warning that they had though was not to let any of the fruit float down the river by the tree, for if that happened man would come searching for the fruit and destroy the wonderful society that they had created. One day many years later a ripe fruit was hidden and unseen by the monkeys. It fell and was taken down the river towards the cities of man. The Men found the fruit and all came to the conclusion that the fruit had to have come from the mountains because the air there was so pure.
