Picking up with the story of Krishna, this time being told in a video by Epified India. We start off with it being mentioned that Krishna had enemies’ years before he was even born. His birth was tried to be prevented and on many occasions was tried to be killed. He later became a king and much more. No one else was able to see that he was greater than just a regular man during his lifetime. Krishna was born the same time as one of Kunti’s children far away. At first he wanting to kill his sister and his wife but instead threw them into jail and just killed the children by smashing their head against the wall with the first 7 children. When she was pregnant with the 8 th child a light shined down upon them. This was the 8 th reincarnation of Vishnu, named Krishna. The gods rejoiced with the birth of this child. Now as we return, Krishna is approaching the age of 12. As the heavens had spoken, this was coming to the time when he would slay the tyrant Kansa. All of Kansa’s attempts on Krishna’s life had failed, along with that Krishna had humbled Indra and swallowed a forest fire just to name a few of his great feats. A great sacrifice was planned to be made in Mathura. Kansa was there as well as Krishna and his adopted family. Kansa was fearful and had begun to have nightmares dreaming of the moment when Krishna would end his tyranny. He spoke about it, but people thought it was joke. Only Kansa knew that he would not be alive much longer. While Kansa was making the final preparations Krishna and his brother rose that morning and gave worship and were now on their way to the tournament. Starting with the reading, Cradle tales of Hinduism written by Sister Nivedita. We start with the story of Krishna’s birth. The tyrant Kansa who was extremely had great love for his sister Devaki and his noble, Vasudeva. He worked to arrange a marriage between the two. After the wedding he acted as the charioteer to drive them home. On his way a voice from heaven spoke and told Kansa that the eighth child of the couple will slay him at 12 years’ old. To save himself Kansa imprisoned both of them underneath his palace. When the couple had a child he slayed it and did so the first 7 times. Now the 8 th child was coming, which meant the king’s time on earth was starting to come to an end. This child was Krishna. Moving to Krishna’s childhood, Kansa had been told that Krishna was living somewhere in the dominions of Mathura.
