Week 15 Reading Notes, The five brothers

Starting off with the Five brothers written by Elizabeth Seeger we begin with the sons of pandu. There were five sons all with their mother were headed on their way to the entrance to a kingdom. The boys were fascinated for they had been raised in the forest and had never seen such beautiful architecture in their life until this day. The men t the gates noticed these people and to them they all looked as beautiful as god’s. The sages came out to take care of them and bring them into the wonderful city. The sages spoke and told another person to run and go get the king, King Kuru. When told the news, the King rose and went to the city gate to see the mother and her five sons. With the king he was followed by all of the important and royal individuals within the city. They then were told of the story of Pandu, the former king and how he left to pursue the rest of his life in the forest because of a curse placed upon him. Bishma recognized that these young boys were all the sons of Pandu, the former king. King Kuru embraced all of the boys and their mother as well. All of the men in the city recognized the boys and treated them like the royalty that they were. It was clear that all of the boys were stronger the King Kuru’s sons and his sons began to resent them because of it, especially Bima was hated.
