Week & reading notes Mahabharata C

Continuing the reading from last week, we start with the Pandavas are now entering into a long period of exile into the forest, similar to what Rama had to do in the Ramayana we recently had to read. They were exiled for 12 years with their wife and the Brahmin. Next we see Arjuna who is being sent to the mountains to go fast and pray so that his enemies can be slain. While in the mountains for months upon months he gets to the point where he is living on air alone. While on a hunt he and a huntsman shoot the same boar at the same time. Angered because of this Arjuna challenges him to contests, when it is found he is a god, Arjuna drops down to worship him and is given the divine bow to conquer his enemies with.

I like this story with Arjuna and could easily see myself creating my own story based off of it. With having to go sacrifice time in order to gain something it creates the opportunity to create a story that can be related to something that we know.

Moving forward we see Hanuman again who was present with Rama and is still present and runs into Bhima and gives him an account of his adventures of Rama. Then proceeds to explain the duties of the 4 different castes.
